Representatives came from a variety of local volunteer groups, including the Helston Climate Action Group, Helston Community Hospital’s League of Friends, Helston Foodbank, East Lizard Helpline, a marital arts club, Girl Guiding and Coastwatch, to meet with the MP and enjoy the spread provided by members of Helston Bowling Club.
Mr Thomas said: “There is no doubt that the lives of people who live in and around Helston are immeasurably better off thanks to the selfless work of the army of volunteers who do so much to keep a wide range of clubs and vital community services alive.
“I think it is important that their dedication and commitment is acknowledged - it was a great pleasure to come to the Bowling Club to meet the volunteers and hear first hand exactly what they do and the sacrifices they make to ensure Helston is such a special place.”
Mr Thomas is holding further Big Thank You events at the Hope Church in Penzance this Saturday, 1st February from 10am and the following week at the Salvation Army, St Ives, again from 10am on Saturday, 8th February.
