Urgent Questions about sewage at Long Rock

Reports that Long Rock recorded 19 combined sewer overflow notifications this bathing season is obviously a concern, and Derek was able to press Southwest Water in parliament today to do more to address this.

The issue with combined sewer overflows does not sit with water companies alone. They become overwhelmed because of run-off from farmland, our roofs, the road network, and the water we consume within our homes which eventually finds its way into the foul water system.

In today’s urgent question on storm overflows, Derek asked what the Secretary of State can do to encourage us all to be more responsible in our water usage, to help prevent these combined sewer overflow occurrences on our beaches.
