A few people have contacted me about concerns for coronavirus testing locally, particularly as we welcome back visitors to our beautiful area.
Cornwall Council informs me that anyone with symptoms can book a test at a mobile test centre currently appearing at Camborne, Falmouth, Launceston and St Austell and there is a bespoke service for residents and visitors on the Isles of Scilly. The mobile testing units currently have ample testing capacity for both local residents and the anticipated visitor influx to Cornwall, and symptomatic people should be able to be tested within 24 hours.
Testing is most effective within 3 days of symptoms developing and symptomatic people can also request home test kits that can be delivered to their home so they can test themselves and their family without leaving the house. It is worth noting that if a symptomatic person logs on to the booking system in the afternoon they may only get Plymouth as an option - this is because the mobile testing unit appointments for the next day may not have been up loaded at that time. If this happens you can wait until the following morning for more choice.
If a symptomatic person who requires a test cannot access the internet they should call 119 which is the coronavirus testing call centre.
