Banking Hub and Dentistry
I am working closely with the Town Council to secure a Banking Hub for St Ives, and working with local dentists and NHS Commissioners to increase access to NHS dentistry. Both initiatives need your support.
Access to in-person banking is important, both for local businesses and individuals. Banking hubs provide basic banking services on behalf of the major banks, and private space where customers can meet community bankers from their bank. LINK independently reviews the impact of all changes to banking provision and can recommend new services such as shared banking hubs where needed – as they have in Helston. They last reviewed the needs of St Ives twelve months ago, but they have agreed to revisit this decision if we can show that the needs have changed.
I have been campaigning for better access to NHS dentistry. The Government’s new NHS Dental Recovery Plan is designed to make access to dentists faster, simpler and fairer – and has a special focus on rural and coastal communities. The Edward Hain Centre is now a health and wellbeing hub, and the team there are willing to host NHS dentistry: now we have to persuade NHS managers of the local need. Dentists don’t have “waiting lists” in the same way as GPs or hospitals, so even the NHS has no way of knowing how many people need dental treatment, and my survey will give them the information they need.
This survey will help me show the need for a Banking Hub as well as the demand for NHS dentistry in St Ives.
